SMEs invited to contribute to Royal Academy of Engineering research

The Royal Academy of Engineering is seeking input from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to help shape the future of technical education in the UK.

Its Education and Skills Policy team is undertaking research into how SMEs experience hosting T Level industry placements in engineering and manufacturing, and construction and building services.

The research aims to better understand how employers are engaging with T Levels, the challenges they face, and the support needed to make placements more accessible and effective for smaller businesses.

Who can take part?

The Academy would like to hear from SMEs with fewer than 250 employees that have hosted, or are currently hosting, a T Level student.

What's involved?

Participants will be asked to take part in a confidential 45-minute virtual interview, arranged at a time that suits them.

Why get involved?

Insights gathered through the research will help inform policy recommendations designed to:

• Improve support for employers
• Reduce administrative burden
• Strengthen how T Levels work for SMEs
