Fellow announcement: Pim Reuderink
IGEM is proud to award Fellowship to EUR ING Pim Reuderink DBA FIGEM, Regional Technical Manager for the Nordics and the Netherlands at Bureau Veritas, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the gas engineering profession.
Pim has built an exceptional international career spanning hydrogen infrastructure, pipeline safety, technical governance and standards development. For more than 12 years at Bureau Veritas, he has led complex infrastructure verification and certification projects across Northern Europe, supporting the safe and sustainable transition of energy systems.
Since 2014, Pim has served as Regional Technical Manager for the Nordics and the Netherlands, where he established and led independent verification bodies under the Danish Offshore Safety Act, the Dutch Mining Act and the Offshore Safety Directive 2013/30/EU. He has also secured and maintained ISO 17020 accreditations for major pipeline standards including NEN 3650, NEN 3656 and DNV F101. In 2025, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Stichting CBI, providing governance and oversight for the pressure equipment inspection scheme in the Netherlands.
Pim has made significant technical contributions to the development of Europe’s hydrogen infrastructure. He authored the hydrogen annexes to NEN 3650 and NEN 3656, helping establish the regulatory framework for hydrogen-ready pipelines in the Netherlands. He also led the re-use approval assessment for the conversion of the NOGAT and NGT offshore pipelines to hydrogen service, resulting in the first Certificate of Fitness for green hydrogen transport through North Sea pipelines.
His expertise is recognised internationally. In Germany, he has been formally appointed as a Recognised Expert for pipelines under the ABBergV and OffShoreBergV regulations, with authority extending across four federal states until 2031.
Alongside his industry leadership, Pim is an active contributor to research, education and professional development. He recently completed a doctorate in Energy Management focused on offshore hydrogen infrastructure and the strategic reuse of gas networks to accelerate Europe’s hydrogen transition. His academic work has resulted in multiple publications on hydrogen production, pipeline safety and infrastructure reuse.
Pim is also committed to supporting the next generation of engineers through lecturing, mentoring and public speaking. He teaches within the MSc Pipelines programme at Habeo+ University at Breda, while also contributing to mentoring programmes and international industry conferences.
Throughout his career, Pim has actively supported IGEM and the promotion of engineering professionalism. He holds dual professional registration through IGEM and the IET and regularly advocates for professional competence and standards-led engineering across the sector.
Reflecting on his Fellowship, Pim shared: “As the energy sector accelerates its transition toward low-carbon hydrogen, the role of gas engineers has never been more critical. We are the bridge between today’s natural gas networks and tomorrow’s hydrogen economy and I’m proud to carry that responsibility as a Fellow of IGEM.”
