Fellow announcement: Keri Bunnell
It is a pleasure to announce that Keri Bunnell, Asset Investment Manager - Risk Modelling (Leadership) at Cadent, has been elected as a Fellow of IGEM, recognising her outstanding contribution to engineering, asset management and regulatory development.
Keri has built an exceptional career at the forefront of risk modelling, asset investment strategy and regulatory framework development across the UK gas distribution sector. Since 2014, she has been a key contributor to the development and evolution of the Network Asset Risk Metrics (NARMs) framework, working closely with all Gas Distribution Networks, the Safety and Reliability Working Group and Ofgem to embed a consistent, evidence-based approach to risk reduction and investment planning across the sector.
Her work has helped establish NARMs as a core component of the regulatory landscape, embedded within Gas Transporter Licences and linked to TOTEX allowances and ex-post performance assessment through the Funding Adjustment Mechanism. Keri has played a central role in shaping this mechanism, providing expert technical review and challenge to ensure its continued evolution delivers robustness and effectiveness.
At Cadent, Keri leads the development and application of advanced risk modelling capability within enterprise-wide asset management systems. She is responsible for ensuring investment decisions are underpinned by robust analytics, including risk impact analysis, model validation and data governance processes. Her leadership supports the delivery of multi-million-pound investment strategies and strengthens Cadent’s approach to asset health and regulatory compliance.
Keri has also played a significant role in the development of RIIO-GD2 and RIIO-GD3 business plans, translating complex risk modelling outputs into clear, defensible Engineering Justification Papers. This work directly supported strong regulatory outcomes, including securing approximately 90 percent of allowed TOTEX for Northern Gas Networks in RIIO-GD3 final determinations.
Beyond Cadent, Keri has contributed to wider industry transformation through consultancy work supporting electricity and gas networks in monetised risk modelling, enterprise optimisation and investment decision support.
Alongside her technical leadership, Keri is actively involved in equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives, contributing to neurodiversity awareness and workplace improvement programmes that help create more inclusive engineering environments.
Keri has also made a long-standing contribution to IGEM. She has served on the Professional Development Committee and CPD Working Party, supporting accreditation assessments, CPD framework development and continuous improvement of professional standards. She has contributed to the Scholarship, Grants and Awards Panel, supporting applicant assessment, interviews and post-award mentorship. In 2025, she completed IGEM Engineering Council Professional Review Assessor training and continues to develop towards full assessor competence.
Her wider professional contributions include volunteering with the Institute of Asset Management, where she supports CPD framework development, as well as contributing case studies and technical content to subject specific guidance.
These contributions reflect Keri’s sustained commitment to advancing asset management practice, strengthening regulatory frameworks and supporting professional development across the engineering community.
On receiving her Fellowship, Keri shared: "IGEM performs a critical role within the gas industry, and I am honoured to be elected as a Fellow member. It is testament to the exceptional people and companies I’ve had the benefit to work with.
