Engineering a more inclusive gas future
The Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM) and EqualEngineers are proud to announce a new strategic partnership that will support the development of a more inclusive, equitable and future-ready engineering profession.
The collaboration brings together IGEM’s long-standing role as the professional engineering institution for individuals and organisations in the gas sector with EqualEngineers’ expertise in diversity, equity and inclusion across engineering and technology. Together, the organisations will work to ensure that the engineering workforce better reflects the communities it serves and that professionals across the sector can thrive in environments where they feel valued, supported and able to contribute fully.
Through this partnership, EqualEngineers and IGEM will explore opportunities to enhance inclusive professional development, support under-represented groups entering and progressing within the sector, and share insight and best practice across industry, education and professional networks. The organisations will also work together to create learning and engagement opportunities for members, supporting inclusive leadership, safe working cultures and stronger pathways into engineering careers.

Our sector doesn’t stand a chance of transforming to deliver a clean energy system without being fully resourced for the challenge – and we can’t be fully resourced if we accept inequity, uniformity and exclusivity. We have a few decades of ‘all-hands-on-deck’ ahead of us, and the outcome of our efforts will be better overall if we get it right with EDI.
